Colour and Razzmatazz Adorns Heacham Carnival
Heacham Carnival Parade took place on Sunday, 6th August.
The historical parade, which is believed to date back to the early 1900’s, weaved through the village to the delight of onlookers, arriving at the Sports Field where a fete with various entertainments, stalls, craft stands and a bar added to the jovial atmosphere.
A BMX stunt riding team provided some jaw dropping manoeuvres whilst the RNLI were also in attendance.
The parade was accompanied by the excellent eight piece horn and percussion group, The East Angles Brass Band, whilst there were street collections along the way for Heacham Minors FC.
Lavender Queen was Ella McGinn along with Lavender King Charlie Buckingham. Attendants were Tommy Graham, Blessing Guy, Ava Searle and Liahna Graham. Heacham Manor sponsored a number of prizes for the floats and Norfolk Lavender provided goody bags.
Mark Pishorn, who oversaw the event, was delighted with the turn out despite the overcast conditions, saying, “really pleased with the turn out in the end, despite the challenging weather conditions. Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers, without whom we simply could not hold the event. We managed to keep the entry free which I am pleased about and watching the kids enjoy themselves makes the day special”.
