Pride in our Neighbourhood 6
Andrew Murray
One of the fundamental aspects of developing a Neighbourhood Plan
is the participation of all sections of the community including those
sections that may be hard to reach. Not only does this involvement
need to be done but it is necessary to show that it has been done when
the time comes for the plan to be examined by an inspector.
On Blossom Day, Saturday 2nd. May to be held at the Community
Field from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm, there will be stall to introduce
neighbourhood planning to the local community. It will be an initial
opportunity for people to discuss their ideas of how the town might
develop in the coming years.
A meeting was held at the Norwich University of Art entitled
Neighbourhood Planning and Norwich. I was able to meet one of the
speakers, Mr Rob Cowan of Urban Design. He is both a cartoonist
and a design consultant. In the same way that the Hunstanton Parish
Plan was produced in 2004, he asks people what it is that they like
about a street, building or area and what people dislike. He has
developed an App that he says that he can arrange to be used in
Hunstanton free of charge. This has the potential to be an important
way of gathering information from the visitors to the town as well as
from local residents.
If you wish to let us know your thoughts about the future growth of
the town, please e-mail andrew.murray1@virgin.net or phone 532376
