Little Lights shine bright at swap shop
Sophie Hooker
hursday 29th August saw baby and
toddler group Little Lights host their
Tfirst pop-up children’s swap shop,
where everyone was welcome to donate and
pick up free children’s clothes.
Held at the Union Church from 10am-
12pm, the morning proved a huge hit which
has benefitted between forty to fifty local
families. Clothes left at the end were then
donated to local charity shops and charities.
Not only are free swap shops hugely
beneficial to families on tight budgets, they
also reduce waste and help the environment.
Little Lights’ Suzie Abramian said: “This
started really from the families at Little
Lights. So far it seems to be going very well
and everyone seems to be really enthusiastic
about the idea.”
“Being able to share things around for free,
being able to give good, reusable things that
can be worn again. It is very much something
that we wanted to do to help and bless the
community really.”
Little Lights is held at Union Church every
Thursday during term-time between 9.30am
to 11.30am. Welcome to children up to school
age, the sessions involve free-play, messy
craft activities, circle time and hot drinks for
parents to enjoy.
