Hunstanton Community Fridge
By the Community Fridge Volunteer Team: Amanda, David, June, Lesley, Penny, Rachel, Rita, Ronan, Zena
ince its inauguration in June 2021 the
Hunstanton Community Fridge has been
Srun by a team of environmentally spirited
volunteers. The remit of the Community Fridge
has always been to collect surplus food from
food outlets and redistribute amongst the wider
community, thus saving these perfectly
edible/usable items from being thrown away.
We are delighted to say that in this relatively
short time span we have saved over 15 tons of
food from being wasted and going into landfill.
A tremendous achievement and one of which
we are very proud!
The volunteer team have really enjoyed
being part of this great initiative. Besides
helping to raise awareness of environmental
issues, and the privilege of helping members of
the community, we have above all else enjoyed
meeting, chatting and welcoming our
customers, many of whom have become
friends.
All the volunteers would like to wish the
Community Hub (Hunstanton Town Council)
success with the future of the project.
As from the 26th October the Community
Fridge is moving from its premises at
Hunstanton Community Centre to its new home
at The Community Hub. Enquiries to Jan
