       Hunstanton’s first mobility
       scooter rally

Over sixty people attended Hunstanton’s first mobility scooter rally in
the first hour of operation at the Seagate Coach Park on 9th October.
“I’m thrilled with the response” said organiser Mike Stewart of
Mobility 2000, “people obviously feel that the courses and assistance
we have on offer is what they need.”
Norfolk Constabulary’s Traffic Management Officer David Law
ran Safe Scoot courses throughout the event and gave advice about
being aware of pedestrians and traffic. He said: “We’ve been running
these courses for about seven years and participants learn about road
safety and how to use a scooter in a responsible manner; we want to
help users maintain their independence and be safe on the road.”
An obstacle course with traffic cones was created on the coach park
and local resident Cheryl Lovett took the opportunity to try out a scoot-
er. She said: “This is my first time on a scooter and I thought it was
important to take the safety course before buying one.
“Using a mobility scooter is very different; I’ve driven cars and rid-
den motorbikes but these machines are very different and I’m happy to
       have acquired new skills today.
“I think this is an excellent idea and I’ve learned so much; it’s given
me the confidence to go ahead with a purchase.”
