Mock interviews for Year 11 students

Conducting a series of mock interviews for Smithdon students the Hunstanton and District Rotary Club
gathered twelve of their members to present a series of questions to the fifteen year olds who had recently
taken part in the work experience program.
In partnership with Smithdon School the club has been operating the interviews for about six years.
Interviewing in pairs, the Rotarians complete score cards that are discussed with the student at the end of
the session with a view to adding to the student’s armoury of job-finding skills.
“Understandably some students are nervous, but this shows there is a need for this type of practice-run.
A lot of our members have extensive interviewing experience and they are able to share their knowledge
and skills with the next generation,” said Rotarian John Hornsby-Bates. “It is always an absolute joy to
participate in these interviews, the calibre of students improves each year and the Smithdon youngsters
seem to be far more equipped for the outside world” he added.
