Award for Anne who swapped Post being nominated by a colleague.
“I worked in a care home before coming to Extra Hands, working
Office for care with people who had dementia. I somehow seem to have a connection
with older people and I really love what I do,” she said.
Moving to care at home meant Anne had the chance to meet different
people in their own environment, and she has never looked back.
“I was really thrilled to get the award,” said the mother of two.
Her nomination said: “Anne was so supportive when I was
shadowing her, she encouraged me to be confident. She made all the
service users smile whilst visiting them. Anne even checked in on me
once I was working on my own to see how I was doing which means
a lot.”
“I love my job and working for Extra Hands, they have all been
really nice and are a good bunch to work with.”
Anne said her working hours are ideal for her, and she is very happy
to have made the move to Extra Hands, a family-run home care
company which also has offices in Horsham St Faith.

fter working 80 hours a week in a Post Office and store, carer
Anne Jenner decided there was more to life and changed her
Acareer.
She and her partner Peter ran the Grimston store for 15 years, but
the hours became an issue and she chose to step away from a shop
position and take up a new role as a carer. And that seems to have paid
off as she has won an award thanks to her dedication.
Anne, 53, joined the Heacham office of Extra Hands in 2022 and is
now the proud recipient of a Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Award after

e’ve done it! We are delighted to share the exciting news
that the BagLadies of Thornham have exceeded their
WFundraising target of £100,000. A generous donation has
taken our all-time total to £100,500.
Our successful Winter Gift Fair raised over £2,500 on a wet and
windy day in early December.
At our next meeting in January, we will be discussing our future
plans and we would like to hear villagers’ views on a suitable project
to bring our fundraising efforts to a close.
Since 2006, many Thornham projects have benefited from our
fundraising efforts, including the Cricket Club, Village Hall, Children’s
Play Area, All Saints’ Church, the Bowls Club and, in 2025, we will
be supporting the proposed new Sports Pavilion and the restoration of
the Thornham Village Sign at the end of Hall Lane.
We will continue with our fundraising, but on a much reduced level,
until all our stock is sold. A Coffee Morning and Sale is planned for
early Spring.
Jubilee Meadow continues to develop, and BagLadies have
sponsored two trees, a Jubilee Oak and a Weeping Willow in memory
of Melanie Venes, as well as a picnic bench. We will support Jubilee
Meadow in the future in line with Melanie’s wishes.
BagLadies would like to thank everybody for their continued
support over many years.
