their new varifocals. After discussions it more than one screen at a time, thus making
this field of view more impractical. So, our
lens manufacturer, Essilor, have developed
“Varilux Digitime”, a new generation of
occupational lenses for patients who use
digital devices daily or have other near or
intermediate vision activities. There are three
versions, Room, Mid and Near, so we can
tailor your specs to the demands of your
lifestyle and workplace. It does mean that you
almost have to do a task analysis before
choosing the lens type but it is these
discussions that are so important when
dispensing spectacles. Yes, it does mean
another pair of specs, but it’s a case of having
the correct tool for the job and we do spend a
lot of time at work. Essilor has introduced the
multi-pairs promotion again this year, so the
second pair of lenses can be half-price. Travel
to work in your regular varifocals, change to
Digitime at work and then swap back in time
to go home, that’s our routine in the practice
and it works a treat!
