FIRST WORD

It is hard to believe that this is issue number 100; the time has gone so
quickly (must be my age). Starting the magazine in 2005 with only the
will to do it, and lacking any knowledge or experience seems like a
foolhardy enterprise now but with the support and encouragement of
the local community we are still here, eight years on and we continue
to try and improve.
Some recent developments include a weekly news update on the
website and Twitter feed with details of events and local news.
I know I say it every month but this really is a full magazine with
lots of items to inform and entertain. My thanks to everyone who has
contributed to this edition, our team of deliverers and our advertisers.
You are what makes the magazine what it is.
So this month the 2nd of February is Candlemas Day, and this
ancient festival marks the mid-way point of winter, half-way between
the shortest day and the spring equinox. And I for one am looking
forward to the lighter evenings.
