The Gathering at the Act of Remembrance launching the Poppy Appeal in Hunstanton
Crosses placed on War Graves as Poppy Appeal
launched in Hunstanton
Over fifty people gathered for an Act of Remembrance that was
conducted by Fr James Monro at Hunstanton Cemetery on Saturday
(28th October) and following the two-minute silence young people
from 3rd Hunstanton Brownies and the 1st Hunstanton Scout Group
placed crosses on each of the War Graves.
The Mayor of Hunstanton Cllr Adrian Winnington spoke about the
Poppy Appeal and the names of the Polish and British servicemen,
whose graves are tended by the War Graves Commission, were read
by Bozena Jurewicz and Mark Wilson. Alf Ball sounded the Last Post Youngsters from the 1st Hunstanton Scout Group and the 3rd
and Reveille. Standards from The Royal British Legion, the RNLI and Hunstanton Brownies stand with crosses by the war graves
the Brownies were in attendance. 11am on 11.11.17 - Hunstanton High Street
The former National Chairman of The Royal British Legion, John
Crisford CBE, spoke the Exhortation and the Kohima Epitaph at this
annual event that launches the Poppy Appeal in the town.
