A helping hand from the Martin Folkes Lodge to the Men’s Shed
t the annual meeting of the Martin Folkes Lodge Benevolent
Fund Committee a request from Hunstanton and District
AMen’s Shed for funding towards the cost of installing a hot
water system at their new home at Glebe House School was agreed.
The members of the Men’s Shed whose ages range from 22 to 80 are
working on the building to provide areas for practical workshops and a
social area for members to relax, chat and socialise.
Charity Steward Martin Folkes Lodge, Peter Irons said: “We con-
sidered this to be a worthy cause because of the opportunity that it will
provided for friendship and camaraderie to individuals now and in the
future.”
The Hunstanton Men's Shed is a local branch of a worldwide organ-
isation started originally in Australia, there are now over 500 in the UK.
Men’s Sheds are community groups for men to socialise and enjoy tak-
ing part in practical activities. They have been shown to have great ben-
efits to health and mental wellbeing, helping in reducing loneliness and
social isolation. They are open to all , but are generally aimed at retired
men.

and asked if they would be able to help and they have been absolutely
amazing! So friendly and always happy to help. The set and props that
they have produced are fabulous and include the ship’s wheel and the
window – an essential item as anyone who knows the story will
appreciate.
“It is a production put together by many hands: Lydia Snaith and
Alice Hipwell painted the set, Gina Veale the choreography, Matt
Hallard set up all the lights and sound is teaching the children how to
