Village achieves third ambition with
Comic Relief Funding
n advice drop-in day was held in Snettisham on Friday 23rd
February funded by Snettisham’s grant to help combat loneli-
Aness from Comic Relief.
In October last year the SPAM services group (Snettisham
Pensioners’ Annual Meal) was thrilled to receive £1000 to help combat
loneliness in the village and they planned to achieve three targets: The
SPAM Christmas Meal, the coffee mornings with transport from the
Community Bus and an advice service focusing on information to help
people live safely and independently.
LILY, Care and Repair, West Norfolk Befriending and CAM were
amongst the groups that joined event organisers Eric Langford and
Dee Burak. Care and Repair’s Christine Bussey reported a very busy
morning with a lot of interest in radiator foils and she said: “The
majority of people who apply can have funding for these foils that are
very effective and save on heating costs and we can help people get
the funding too.
“There’s also been a lot of interest in our 3 rings plugs from people
with ageing relatives who they want to know they are OK; it works
with messages to the family’s smartphones when something like a
kettle is switched on in the morning; and even more important if no
activity is detected an alert is sent.”
Anne Woodhead, a visitor at the session said: “This was an excellent
event, plenty of information and a good cup of coffee!
