                                                             Village achieves third ambition with
                                                             Comic Relief Funding


                                                                  n advice drop-in day was held in Snettisham on Friday 23rd
                                                                  February funded by Snettisham’s grant to help combat loneli-
                                                             Aness from Comic Relief.
                                                              In  October  last  year  the  SPAM  services  group  (Snettisham
                                                             Pensioners’ Annual Meal) was thrilled to receive £1000 to help combat
                                                             loneliness in the village and they planned to achieve three targets: The
                                                             SPAM Christmas Meal, the coffee mornings with transport from the
                                                             Community Bus and an advice service focusing on information to help
                                                             people live safely and independently.
                                                              LILY, Care and Repair, West Norfolk Befriending and CAM were
                                                             amongst the groups that joined event organisers Eric Langford and
                                                             Dee Burak. Care and Repair’s Christine Bussey reported a very busy
                                                             morning with a lot of interest in radiator foils and she said: “The
                                                             majority of people who apply can have funding for these foils that are
                                                             very effective and save on heating costs and we can help people get
                                                             the funding too.
                                                              “There’s also been a lot of interest in our 3 rings plugs from people
                                                             with ageing relatives who they want to know they are OK; it works
                                                             with messages to the family’s smartphones when something like a
                                                             kettle is switched on in the morning; and even more important if no
                                                             activity is detected an alert is sent.”
                                                              Anne Woodhead, a visitor at the session said: “This was an excellent
                                                             event, plenty of information and a good cup of coffee!
