Wizard of Oz Comes to Ingoldisthorpe

After weeks of practise, rehearsals, and learning lines, Oak Class at Ingoldisthopre Church of England VA Primary School put on their performances of Wizard of Oz.

Performing across four days - including one evening performance - the year 5 and 6 children put on spectacular shows for audiences of over 250 people. The striking performance from the Wicked Witch of the west, Dominic from Kansas, The Tin Man, a wonderfully accented Scarecrow and a very courageous lion took place at the school, leaving the audiences in laughter and tears.

Ingoldisthorpe C of E VA Primary School prides itself on its ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted 2024) personal development for pupils and enabling pupils to shine in academics, performance, singing and areas of talent. The summer show extravaganza this year shows just how important this is to the staff, leadership and the community.

Headteacher, Julia Norman, said, “the children have worked all year round on a school wide Wizard of Oz themed readathon, reading 175 times at home over the year. The readathon and reading in school is of a high priority and is supported by the Friends of Ingoldisthorpe, who supply prizes for every 25 reads and the readathon culminates on the final show day.”
