It was a successful weekend for all local cricket clubs on Saturday.

In the Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division Two, Bircham cemented their place at the top with a tense 19 run win at Mattishall. A good all round batting performance and three wickets apiece for Hill and King enough to secure the points.

Result of the weekend came in Division Three where Sandringham moved joint top with a convincing 49 run win over leaders Norwich 2nds. Darren Bunn’s 78 and three wickets for Richmond and Ingram meant it was “happy days” in Sandringham on Saturday evening.

In Division Four, Ryan Twiddy’s 88 not out and Kieran Herbert’s amazing 6 wickets gave Snettisham a resounding victory over Rockland by 6 wickets. They remain in 2nd place.

In the Norfolk Cricket League Division One, Thornham beat Beeston by 75 runs. An opening partnership of 97 between Chris Burgess and Adam Rose plus four wickets from veteran Jim Clarke proved enough to seal the win. Thornham remain in 4th place but sit just ten points behind leaders Felthorpe.

In the same division, Snettisham 2nd XI won convincingly as they quickly chased down Castle Rising’s paltry 82 with Daniel Cook bagging three wickets. Snettisham are just five points off top spot.

Heacham Football Club returned to action under the stewardship of new manager, Paul Hunt. The new look side were beaten 4-1 by March but it is early days in pre season. We will be catching up with Paul in the coming weeks as Heacham prepare for the new season which starts on 27th July.

This week, Cliff Parade Bowls Club in Hunstanton host their annual bowls tournament at their picturesque club.
