It was a mixed bag of results for local football clubs this weekend.
King's Lynn Town FC's promotion aspirations took a hit on Saturday as they returned from their short trip to local rivals Peterborough Sports with a 3-1 loss. In fact, they won't have many qualms about the result as the hosts deservedly took all three points in this A47 derby.

The home side looked to be ruing an early missed penalty, superbly palmed onto the post by Paul Jones, before Eliot Putman put them 1-0 up just before the interval.
Kian Ronan goal
King's Lynn hit back almost immediately in the second half to level things up with a goal from Kian Ronan, but it was the hosts who secured the points with two further goals, a penalty from the lively Michael Gyasi and a well worked team goal finished off by Max Booth. What surprised most was the aerial strategy that Lynn adopted - albeit enforced by Sports pressurising - with ex Linnets player Michael Gash almost single handedly dealing with throughout most of the match.

Peterborough Sports are fast becoming Lynn’s bogey team having now won the last three meetings. King’s Lynn drop to fifth in the National League North table, but are still only four points off new leaders Chester FC. Despite missing key personnel, manager, Adam Lakeland, refrained from making excuses, saying, “they’re a tough side to play against and deserved to win, sometimes you’ve got to hold your hands up”.
In the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, Heacham FC were equally as dreadful as they lost 2-0 at home to bottom side Long Melford. Whilst it seems they are probably safe enough to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle sitting fifteen points clear, manager, Paul Hunt, will still be disappointed with this sudden implosion after some excellent performances of late. He will be expecting a reaction at Cornard United on Saturday.
Dersingham Rovers
In Division One of the Anglian Combination League, Dersingham Rovers put their promotion challenge back on track with a hard earned 2-1 home win against Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves. Isaac Linford and Dane Schmuda with the goals.
Ingoldisthorpe FC
In Division Three, second from bottom Ingoldisthorpe FC continued their recent improvement in form with a superb 4-3 win at home against 2nd placed AFC Lynn. A brace from Dylan Ess and a goal apiece for Max Andrews and Jake Ess enough to see them over the line. With four points from six against the top two sides, the 'thorpe are suddenly in with a realistic chance of avoiding the drop if they can maintain this form. Chairman, Eddie Herbert, said, “we deserved it and have, hopefully, now turned the corner. Special mention to a man of the match display from Tom Nichol”.
In Division Four, Heacham Reserves continued their excellent run with a cracking 3-2 win at Bradenham & Mattishall Reserves, making it seven wins in a row for the local outfit who remain in 3rd place but just a point off the leaders. Alfie Buhlemann, Tyler Reeve and Tyler Pooley with the goals.
In Division One of the North West Norfolk League, leaders Dersingham Rovers ‘A’ slipped to a surpise 2-1 defeat to Terrington Tigers Youth FC. Despite taking an early lead through a Zack Kingshott goal, they failed to capitalise and drop to 2nd in the process. Ingoldisthorpe Reserves lost a tight five goal thriller, losing 3-2 to high flying Reffley Youth FC. Goals from Kai Mayes and Kye Winter ultimately proving in vain.
In Division Two, Heacham Minors FC Development’s good run came to an end as they lost a crucial promotion showdown with 2nd placed Watlington FC ‘A’, beaten 3-0, slipping to 4th in the table. FC St. Edmunds Hunstanton’s match at West Lynn FC was postponed.
Heacham FC U18’s
In the Thurlow Nunn Youth League, 4th placed Heacham FC U18’s face a crucial match at home to leaders Sheringham FC U18’s on Tuesday evening (7.45pm Kick off), knowing a win will put them joint top with the visitors.
