Un-bulb-lievably beautiful

Norfolk Tulips opens for 2 weeks again to raise money for Tapping House

The 20 acres have been transformed by more than 9 million bulbs.

"They are stunning, they're really beautiful," Kayley tells me, "My cousin passed away last year, she was in Tapping House, so it feels a bit respectful to come here at the moment and help them out, like they helped her out."

She's joined by her three children, Isaac, Reuben and Oscar - and as they walk up a row of red tulips, 9 year old Isaac says, "They're really beautiful, I like how they're in rows - and they're the same colour."

Over the next fortnight the field is open to visitors to raise money for Tapping House, Nicky Ellis is the charity's chief executive, "This event is incredible, we are so so lucky to be working with Norfolk Tulips to co-host this phenomenal fundraising.

"This is year 6, every year I arrive at the field knowing what I'm going to see, and every year it takes my breath away.  It's just divine when the sun shines on these tulips, there's just nothing better."

"Last year alone it raised half a million pounds for us," Nicky continues, "I can't thank Norfolk Tulips enough, this was such a great initiative, we had no idea it would grow to the scale it's grown to - but we are enormously grateful."

Field owner Susanne Eve says, "The main draw with Tapping House is we wanted to support a local charity, that would support people within our community."

I ask how the last few months and weeks have been, "It's an enormous amount of work", Susanne replies, "There're a lot of team members that put the tulips in the field - then put this event on. And I'm enormously proud, I beam every time I come through the gates."

She goes on to say it's wonderful to see people, of all ages, now enjoying that hard work.

As I walk along the rows, taking in the glorious colours, everyone is busy taking photographs.

A family stop to chat, who tell me they've tried for 3 years to get tickets.  I ask if it has been worth the wait, "Absolutely," they all reply.

Kerry, along with many other mums, is trying to take a photo of her toddler, "It's a beautiful field and a great family day out, and I will take a great photo before I leave!"

All the money raised will be going to Tapping House’s care of those living with a life limiting illness, as well as support for their loved ones.

The field is a sight to behold, if you've been lucky enough to get tickets, enjoy this glorious celebration of colours.

The event runs until the 27th of April.  A few tickets remain, for ticket information: https://www.norfolktulips.co.u...
