St Nicholas Church in Dersingham is inviting families to this special service on Christmas Eve.

It is one of the church’s most popular festive events, featuring well-known carols, storytelling, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere and this year, the manger scene will include a real baby from the congregation, adding an authentic touch to the story.

Rev Mark Capron, Rector of the Dersingham Benefice, said, “There’s something incredibly moving about having a real baby in the Nativity. It brings a sense of humanity and wonder to the story - and perhaps a moment of pure stillness, even in a church full of excited children!”

The baby who will portray Jesus has already been chosen, and their appearance will take place with their parents nearby at all times.

St Nicholas Church hopes the service will offer families a joyful start to their Christmas celebrations.

“Our Nativity Service is a special moment of togetherness,” said Rev Mark. “Whether you’re a regular churchgoer or haven’t been for years, you’re warmly welcome. Come as you are, join the story, and share in the joy on Christmas Eve at 4pm.”
