"That's the way to do it!" traditional puppet show delights children and adults in Hunstanton

Classic seaside entertainment has people laughing and shouting along.

I feel like panto season has come early as children (and some adults) shout, "He's behind you!", and laugh in sheer delight as the crocodile hides from Mr Punch every time he looks.

Punch and Judy has been performed in the UK for over 350 years and is something I, like many, have memories of from seaside holidays as a child.

Like my one year old, I was slightly scared of the look of the puppets when they first emerged from behind the curtain - but soon remember laughing along.

"It's great to hear the children's reactions," says Uncle Mick, who's been a puppeteer for more than 40 years, "You get the ones that get over excited and are shouting along.  The show's a lot tamer than it used to be, it was quite violent."

All the puppets he's handmade and are decades old.

Uncle Mick's been performing in the Green in Hunstanton every Wednesday in August.   The slapstick comedy is a lot less violent than I remember (not a bad thing).

And everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, as Toby the dog steals some sausages, and Punch squeaks his famous catchphrase 'That's the way to do it!'

At the end children are having photos with Mr Punch.  4 year old Daisy, who's with mum Katie, tells me she wasn't scared, "It was fun, I wasn't even frightened of the crocodile."

She's a braver girl than I was.
