Cricket
Sandringham & Dersingham Cricket Club hosted Bircham CC in a local derby on Saturday. With both sides now out of the running for promotion from Division Two of the Norfolk Cricket Alliance, it was a case of playing for local bragging rights.

An electric start from Bircham restricted the home side’s tally to just 79 runs, with Will Faulkner’s impressive four wickets proving key. The visitors quickly chased down their target in under 16 overs with 6 wickets to spare to achieve the double over their local rivals this season.
In Division Four, in-form Snettisham are up to 3rd after a 9 wicket mauling of Hethersett & Tas-Valley CC. Danny Arnold’s four wickets and Ryan Twiddy’s 70 not out putting them well primed to secure one of the top two promotion places with just three games to go.
In Division Five, Thornham’s excellent run of form continued with an impressive 8 wicket win at Mellis CC. Hat-tricks for Kev Williamson and Tom Wallace set them on their way, before centuries for Nath Linsell and captain, Ben Harris, eased them past the home side’s target of 231.
Football
Kings Lynn Town FC returned to action in the Conference League North under new manager, James Rowe, as they welcomed Telford United. In fact, Rowe will be disappointed his new look side didn’t secure all three points with an impressive and dominant showing. Michael Gyasi’s second half goal cancelling out the visitors first half goal to secure an opening day point for the Linnets.
Heacham FC returned from Harleston Town with nothing to show for their efforts. Despite leading 2-1, the Magpies conceded two goals as they remain winless. Conall Forde and Jake Poore with the Heacham goals.
Division One side Dersingam Rovers played Premier Division side Acle United in the equivalent of the Community Shield in the Anglian Combination League last week at the FDC in Norwich. An impressive 2-0 win (Gino Livoti and Daniel Williams) shows Dersingham are ready to make up for the disappointment of just missing out on promotion to the Premier Division last season. They travel to Wells Town tomorrow (Tuesday) evening in their opening league fixture.
Heacham Reserves put in a good shift in their debut season in Division Three, as they dispatched Aylsham Reserves 5-2 at home. A brace from Noah Fox and goals from Jaden Poore, Vinny Marchetti and Tyler Pooley securing all three points.
A new look Ingoldisthorpe took to the field as they welcomed Madra in Division Four. In fact it was one of the new signings, Shane Watson, who scored a “worldie” that looked to have set the local side on their way. In a testy match both sides could have won, but sloppy defending from the ‘Thorpe meant the visitors took all three points in a 2-1 win. There were, however, a lot of positives to be taken from the game for Ingoldisthorpe who should be challenging for silverware this season.
In the same Division, Dersingham Rovers made it a good start to the season with a 2-1 home win against Watton Utd Reserves. Nathan Mitchell and Adam Simmonds with the goals.
Sailing
After recently performing well in the Topper World Sailing Championships in Holland, Toby and Faith Turner were back in action last week, this time in the Topper National Sailing Championships at Largs Yacht Haven Sailing Club in Scotland.

The Snettisham Beach Sailing Club members yet again performed well achieving Gold Fleet finishes to cap off a fine season for both youngsters. Toby secured a win on the final day which secured 4th place overall out of 100 boats. Faith battled it out right to the last race with some fantastic results at the top end of the fleet to leapfrog all the girls and win the Top Female Award and 23rd overall.

Bowls
Bircham Railway Bowls Club continue to lead the way in the Bridges 3 Wood League, whilst South Creake BC and Docking BC top Division One & Two of the North West Norfolk League respectively. The Countryside League is led by Ingoldisthorpe BC whilst Searles remain in mid table in their debut season in Division One of the Albert Victor League. They have also secured a berth in the League Cup Final. In the Norfolk County Bowls League West Divisions, Hunstanton ‘A’ & ‘B’ and Cliff Parade BC are now out of any races for promotion.
The Oasis Indoor Bowls League have confirmed their AGM will take place at Cromer Road Bowls Club on Wednesday, 3rd September (7pm), whilst coaching resumes on Wednesday, 24th September from 2pm to 4pm.
Golf
In the latest Tier One Clutch Pro Tour tournament, local professional, Warren Bates, achieved a creditable 22nd place finish from over 100 competitors at Camberwell Park Golf Club in Wiltshire. This week he is at Mannings Heath Golf Club in West Sussex at the last 2025 Clutch Pro Tour event, before he travels to the season ending Tour Championships at Al Hamra Golf Club in the UAE in October.
