Lynn boss insists there’s 'no way this club’s going down', West Norfolk rugby men back to winning ways and Hunstanton men’s Indoor Bowls team close gap on leaders
Football
In the National Conference League North, King’s Lynn Town FC sit just two points and one place above the relegation places after a 2-0 home defeat to Alfreton Town.
Lynn will be particularly aggrieved that a headed effort from the returning Adam Marriott wasn’t given when it was clearly over the line at a crucial point in the game. Luck often deserts you when you need it most.
However, Linnets boss, Ian Culverhouse, insists, “There’s no way this club’s going down. I'm telling you now, we'll fight tooth and nail to keep this one up and get something moving in the right direction, so that we can build on it in the summer."
Lynn host the team immediately above them in the table tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, Southport FC (7.45pm Kick off).
In the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, Heachan FC remain bottom after a 4-0 reverse at high flying Great Yarmouth Town. In a scrappy muddy encounter, the conditions certainly did not suit Heacham’s style of play. Tom Beattie also saw red for the Magpies.
They face three key matches in the next few weeks, away at Woodbridge Town (7th February), and two games against fellow relegation strugglers, at Lakenheath (14th February) and home to Hadleigh United (21st February).

In Division One of the Anglian Combination League it is the games against the teams around them that are proving pivotal to Dersingham Rovers, in their hunt for that elusive promotion. They will rue missed chances as they slipped to a tight 1-0 defeat at fellow contenders Loddon United on Saturday. They remain in 3rd, although they have played more games than all of the teams around them.
In Division Three, Heacham Reserves made light work of bottom side Easton Reserves in a routine 5-0 win. A brace from Tom Hawkins and a goal apiece for Vinny Manchetti, Will Pooley and George Rawlings securing all three points. Heacham remain in 6th, five points off the top.
Dersingham Reserves lost a tense CS Morley Cup semi final to higher level Attleborough Reserves 2-1. Cameron Seal with the Derse goal in a game they certainly did not get the rub of the green. Andrew Stables also saw red.
In Division One of the North West Norfolk League, Dersingham Rovers ‘A’ returned from Reffley Youth FC with nothing to show for their efforts in a 1-0 loss against the ten men leaders.
In Division Two, Ingoldisthorpe Reserves secured a 3-0 home win against Woottons Reserves with goals from Thomas Hosty, Vitalij Jermilov and John Sapsford. Thorpe remain in 3rd but do have games in hand on the top two as they seek an immediate return to Division One.
In Division Three of the Norfolk Women & Girls’ Football League, Dersingham Women continued their excellent run of form with an impressive 3-2 win at fellow promotion challengers, Horsford Women. Two goals from the effervescent Emma Leech and a goal from Eliza McDonald moving the local outfit up to 2nd.
Rugby
The men’s West Norfolk rugby team returned to winning ways with a 34-0 home demolition of Ipswich YM. They move up to 3rd in Division One East, reigniting their promotion challenge.
Bowls
In Division Four of the County Indoor Bowls League, the Hunstanton men’s team closed the gap on leaders Lynnsport ‘B’ to just four points with five games to go.
They had an excellent 6-1 win at Gallow ‘C’ with the rink of Graham Keeley, Ian Cain, David Ilsley and Stuart Davison the top performers in a 24-11 lane win.
