Jekyll & Hyde Lynn lose, Magpies humbled, Indoor Bowls Leagues going down to the wire and West Norfolk’s men’s rugby team falter
Football
After last Tuesday's excellent 2-1 win at Buxton, with a goal of the season contender from Reece-Hall Johnson and another winner from loanee Terry Bondo, it was back down to earth with a big bump for King's Lynn Town on Saturday.
Hosting fellow strugglers, Oxford City, the Linnets were on the end of a 2-1 reverse. The in-form Bondo looked to have salvaged a point for Lynn, cancelling out Oxford’s early goal, before the visitors struck late to claim all three points. Lynn are five points clear of the drop with twelve games left to play. They welcome Marine on Saturday.
Manager, Ian Culverhouse, also held no punches in response to the recent sprinklers row.

An anonymous source released CCTV images, which appear to show a single sprinkler operating in one corner of the already sodden grounds, which caused a match to be postponed. The National League said it's investigating the claim.

Culverhouse says, “What we’ve got is people that have previously been associated with this football club, that have got nothing better to do in their lives than sit at home, make up false accounts, false emails, to try and damage this football club. The town, the players and supporters deserve better.”
In the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, Heacham FC failed to make it three wins on the trot at high flying Soham Town Rangers as they were humbled 4-0. All the goals came in the first Half, although manager, Mark Hunter, can take some heart from a clean sheet and a spirited performance in the second half.
Surprise wins for Cornard and Lakenheath mean just three points divide the bottom four.
In Division Four of the Anglian Combination League, surprise result of the weekend saw 3rd placed Ingoldisthorpe FC beaten 9-0 by 2nd placed Dereham Town Development.
In Division Two of the North West Norfolk League, Dersingham Rovers U23’s lost 4-1 at Woottons Reserves, Sam Wilkinson with the goal. In League Cup action, Ingoldisthorpe Reserves made light work of visiting Aburi Town, dispatching them with ease 7-1. A hat-trick from Kai Mayes and a goal apiece for Alfie Muffett, Chelsey Mayes, Vitalij Jermilov and Shannon Herring-Blatch securing the routine win.
In Division Three of the Norfolk Women & Girls’ Football League, Dersingham Women continued their excellent run of form at FC Viking Valkyries Reserves, Emma Leech notching in a hard earned 1-0 win. Derse remain in 2nd in what is their debut season at this level. They can overtake leaders Waveney Ladies with their games in hand, although 3rd placed Dereham can leapfrog both with their games in hand.
Heacham FC U18’s were beaten 3-1 by Wisbech Town U18’s last week. They are back in action on Thursday evening, travelling to Ely City U18’s.
Indoor Bowls
Both Hunstanton men and women Indoor Bows teams look to be taking their title aspirations right down to the wire in their respective County Leagues.
In Division Four, the men remain in pole position after a a maximum points haul win over County Arts C (100-45), with the top rink of David Greaves, Phil Grainger, Peter Scott and Kev Johnson leading the way with a 30-9 lane win.
They lead main rivals Lynnsport B by just half a point with a brace of games left to go, including a tasty meeting between the two later on this month.
The women weren’t in action this weekend and remain 2nd in Division Two with three games left to play. Leaders Gallow B’s convincing 7.5-0.5 victory means Hunstanton still have it all to do if they are to win the title.
Rugby Union
West Norfolk men’s title and promotion bids took a huge knock on Saturday after a surprise 26-7 loss at home to Southwold. The defeat means West Norfolk now trail leaders Bury St. Edmunds ll’s by 13 points with just six games left to play. The duo meet in an eagerly anticipated encounter at North Wootton on the 11th April.
