Lynn out of the FA Cup, local football round up and Heacham Social host pétanque tournament.
King’s Lynn Town FC let a two goal lead slip out as they were agonisingly beaten 4-2 at Scunthorpe United in the 4th Round Qualifying of the FA Cup. Gold Omotayo and a superb Ross Crane effort had given the Linnets the perfect start in front of over 2,000 spectators.
In fact, the Linnets were just half an hour away from causing a major upset, before Scunny pulled a goal back. This re-ignited the home side as they smelt blood and managed to score three more goals to secure their place in the hat for the 1st Round proper draw.
In the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, Heacham failed to build on last weekend’s win as they slipped to 2-1 defeat at high flying Mulbarton Wanderers. Callum Robinson with the magpies goal in a feisty affair where Heacham picked up four yellow cards. They slip back into the relegation zone. Heacham are back in action today (Tuesday) evening as they welcome Gt. Yarmouth Town in a Norfolk Senior Cup tie (7.45pm Kick off).
In Division One of the Anglian Combination League, Dersingham Rovers secured all three points in a tight 3-2 home win over Mundford with Conor Daniels scoring a last minute winner. Gino Livoti and Kieran Nurse with the other goals. Dersingham are up to 3rd.
In Division Three, Heacham Reserves were surprisingly beaten 4-2 at home by Gayton United where their leaky defence continues to haunt them.
In Division Four, Ingoldisthorpe FC had a convincing 5-0 win over bottom side KLSC Reserves. A George Patience hat-trick, Shane Watson brace and Jake Cook goal enough to bag the points. Dersingham Reserves won 4-1 on penalties in the League Cup at Belton after a Sonny Devlin goal had tied the match after 90 minutes.
In the North West Norfolk League, Dersingham Rovers ‘A’ and Heacham Minors Development FC continue to struggle in Division One, both beaten 4-0 at home by West Winch FC and Terrington Tigers Youth Reserves respectively.
In Division Two, FC St. Edmunds Hunstanton notched their first win of the season with a 6-1 drubbing of bottom side FC Aburi Town.
Ingoldisthorpe Reserves were beaten 5-4 on penalties in the County Cup after the match finished 1-1. Bradley Rix with the goal.
Dersingham Rovers U23’s were beaten in the same competition, 3-0 at Clenchwarton Reserves
Pétanque
Heacham Social Club hosted a pétanque Open Singles tournament on Sunday. Organised by the West Norfolk Pétanque League, this event is used as a Winter season launch opener after the Summer season finished last month (cup and plate winners pictured).
It proved to be a huge success as 24 men and women of varying ages turned up to take part on the misty Sunday morning. Each player had four matches with the person with the most points from their matches declared the winner. Whilst there is a serious element to all competitive sport, the fun and camaraderie of all the players won on the day.

Local man, Ade Hubbard from Dersingham won the Men’s title, whilst Chris Taylor was Runner Up. Val Wright prevailed in the Ladies event, with Nicola Bateman second.
A delighted League Chairman, John Stares, said, “really pleased with the record turn out and the number of Ladies taking part. Looking forward to the new season which starts next week”.
