Students from four West Norfolk secondary schools compete in final of spelling contest

Would you know how to spell words like antidisestablishmentarianism, martyr, mnemonic and conscientious?

Year 7 and 8 students had to during a spelling competition held at Smithdon High School in Hunstanton.

Organisers, from the West Norfolk Academies Trust (WNAT), say is was a 'close contest', with teams from Marshland in West Walton, St Clement’s in Terrington St Clement, Springwood in King’s Lynn and Smithdon High.

Springwood took first place, Shanjana who's in Year 8 taking the title of the WNAT Spelling Bee Winner.

Amira O’Neill, English teacher at St Clement’s High, says, “All four schools competed with outstanding team spirit and integrity. 

"Every team delivered a fantastic performance, making the event a true celebration of talent and sportsmanship."
