"We need the public’s help to shape this plan, and we would especially value hearing from people with lived experience of homelessness." Cllr Jo Rust

People in West Norfolk are being asked to share their views and help to shape a plan to end homelessness in the borough.

The Borough Council is working with others to develop the area’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy for the next five years.

A survey, which is open until 31st May, invites people to put forward suggestions for actions to prevent homelessness, as well as ideas for the support that could be offered to people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Respondents to the survey can also share thoughts on sustainable and suitable accommodation, and the long-term assistance that could help people who have experienced homelessness to move forward.

The borough council is particularly keen to hear from people who have experienced, or are experiencing, homelessness, to ensure that their views are taken into consideration.

In addition to the survey, the borough council is hosting a workshop for people who have experienced homelessness, taking place at North Lynn Discovery Centre from 6pm – 8pm on Tuesday 4th June.

Councillor Jo Rust, Cabinet Member for People and Communities, said: “We are committed to ending homelessness in West Norfolk.

“We have already taken a number of steps to support people who are experiencing homelessness, and we work closely with partners across our area to make a difference.

“We want to build on our activities to date, and develop a new five-year plan that will help us to deliver the ambition of ending homelessness in West Norfolk.

“Now, we need the public’s help to shape this plan, and we would especially value hearing from people with lived experience of homelessness.

“We would encourage people to share their views, and play a role in shaping our homelessness strategy for the coming years.”
