Scolthead Island Rescue by Hunstanton RNLI Hovercraft

Thursday afternoon saw the Hunstanton crew responding to three calls from the Coastguard.

At 4.00pm UK Coastguard requested the launch of the Hunstanton RNLI Hovercraft to assist in the search for two missing children at Brancaster.

Hunstanton volunteer crew launched on service and proceeded to Brancaster. As they approached Holme they were stood down, as the children had been found safe and well, and could return to station.

At 6.05pm UK Coastguard requested the launch of the Hunstanton RNLI Hovercraft in response to reports of persons cut off by the tide at Brancaster.

Hunstanton RNLI crew launched on service and proceeded to Brancaster Scolt Head Island. On arrival two adults and two children were taken on board the Hovercraft and landed on the beach into the care of the local coastguard response team. As the Hovercraft was about to return to station, a report came in that two horse riders were also cut off on the Burnham Overy end of the island. As the Hovercraft responded it was reported that the riders and horses had made it across the channel and were now safe and the hovercraft could return to station.
