Save the QEH campaign update - action for Saturday 11th February

Campaigners for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn, will be asking Steve Barclay, Minister for Health, to show them some love in the run up to Valentine’s Day.

Concerned residents will be taking to the streets of King’s Lynn at 11am, next to Boots the Chemists on the High Street, and asking shoppers to sign a Valentine’s Day message to the Secretary of State for Health calling for funding for a new QEH. They will then be taking the giant Valentine Day’s card over to Steve’s office in March where they will leave it on the fence for him to see when he attends the venue, hopefully in time for February 14th. Some Campaigners will be dressed in Where’s Wally themed clothes to represent the fact the Minister has been invisible in respect of the decision about funding a new hospital, masks of Steve will also be worn.

Campaigner Jo Rust said “it’s incredible that we’re now in February and we’ve still not heard if our hospital is going to receive funding for a new build. Exactly what are the government doing? They’ve totally failed to address the situation and despite taking a hefty salary, have abdicated their duties and gone AWOL. Time’s up. We must be told now that our hospital is going to get a new building”.
