Sandringham bear, that was graffitied on, will be restored to all its glory

Sandringham Estate says the names, written in permanent marker, 'will be removed'.

The iconic wooden sculpture was drawn on and graffitied last week to the dismay of visitors.

Although most of the chalk has now washed off in the rain, when I walked by the bear on Sunday the names, written in permanent marker, were still there.

This morning (Monday) Sandringham Estate has reassured me the names 'will be removed'.

A spokesperson says, "We appreciate the desire for creative expression, but to maintain the environment for everyone, we do not condone any form of graffiti on the Estate," adding, "It detracts from the natural beauty that all visitors come here to enjoy."

Visitors who I've spoken to since it happened expressed their disappointment and shock.

Over the weekend Sam, who was walking her dog, stopped to have a look at the bear, "It must have been children surely, who would have been supervised by an adult, wouldn't they? Who would let children do that?"

Hopefully next time my one year old and I take a walk to say hello - he'll be looking his best again.
