The Estate says 'we do not condone any form of graffiti'. The iconic wooden sculpture has been written and drawn on to the dismay of visitors.
"How disappointing," says Sue, who's out walking with her husband Peter. They often bring their grandchildren to the country park looking for the iconic wooden sculptures. "They particularly love the bear, how sad it's been drawn on, hopefully something can be done about it."

It's how I felt too as my one year old ran towards the bear on our walk to say hello - and we saw the bear's paws had been drawn on, and names written in permanent marker on the chest.

Names in permanent marker
As we stand there another mum with her child comes up, "Why would someone do that?" Natalie says to me, "Some people just don't have any respect."

Sandringham Estate says, "We appreciate the desire for creative expression, but to maintain the environment for everyone, we do not condone any form of graffiti on the Estate. In this case, while the chalk may be temporary, it still detracts from the natural beauty that all visitors come here to enjoy."
No comment about the names that are in some kind of permanent marker though. Fingers crossed the bear can be restored to all his glory.
