King’s Lynn parkrun Special Wedding Celebration for Julie Williamson and Justin Walker.

It’s not often that we get the chance to celebrate a wedding at parkrun but at the end of June the runners went all out to do just that and what an awesome parkrun it turned out to be.

It was a parkrun wedding special, celebrating the joining in matrimony later in the day of two of King’s Lynn’s regular runners, Julie Williamson and Justin Walker, who underwent a special parkrun wedding service!

The Run Director conducted a bespoke parkrun wedding service before the start, with the 422 runners present giving lots of encouragement on the beautifully sunny morning and joining in the fun by running in fancy dress.

What the 23 first time runners to King’s Lynn thought of it we were not sure but we had a special visitor in the form of the parkrun national Event Delivery manager, James Kemp, who was visiting King’s Lynn for the very first time.

He was very complimentary about both the venue in The Walks and the fabulous atmosphere, with everyone enjoying the special wedding themed occasion, particularly the post run party snacks and drinks which included a delicious themed wedding cake.

We mustn’t forget, of course, the most important element of the morning being parkrun and some excellent running again from everyone, with Callum Stanforth having a great run being the first to finish in 16:50 with Dawn Robinson being the first female to finish in 19:30.

A big well done also went to the week’s Age Graded Hero, Jane Ashby, who finished with an excellent world class grading of 96.73%.

King’s Lynn parkrun is a free timed 5k open to all regardless of age or ability. We only ask that anyone wishing to attend register first at www.parkrun.com/register and arrive at The Walks Café by 8:45 am on the day to attend the first timers welcome briefing, when everything about the event is explained.
