Rock Choir sings to visitors at Sandringham

More than a 100 performers entertain visitors and staff.

"It's a very special thing to do.  It's such a marvellous place for a start and to sing in the grounds and to bring something a bit extra to the Sandringham experience for the visitors, it's very exciting," Sally Rose tells me, who's the leader of the West Norfolk Rock Choir.

On Saturday afternoon visitors and staff were entertained for a few hours with around 24 songs, "We'll be packing in quite a few numbers, every song means something to all of our 'rockies', we've got some from King's Lynn, Norwich and Peterborough," Sally adds.

The choir says shop assistants came out to listen and the ladies in the ticket office were having a 'little jig'.

One visitor told them when they finished,"You're the best of the music events that we've seen here, and we come every week."

Sally tells me it can get emotional, "I am a blubbering heap somethings, honestly, nearly every time we perform I have hair come up on my arms - I'm just so touched by what has been sung.  Sometimes some of the members have to stand out because they're in tears. It's just such a magical thing."

The response to the choir makes all the hard work worth it Sally says, "We usually get a marvellous reaction, huge claps - and so many people come up to us and stop and tell us about a particular song, how it reminded them of something.  And some people dance and sing along, it's great."

If you fancy joining the group, the singers say they're always open to new members.
