As part of five weeks of ongoing roadworks on the A149 along Cromer Road in Hunstanton, the stretch from York Avenue to Chapel Lane is expected to close from 7am to 7pm on Saturday to Sunday 19 to 20 October.
The road will be closed again from 9am to 5pm from 21 October until 27 October.
The remainder of the work on the road will be carried out under temporary traffic lights.
They are constructing a new, signalised pedestrian crossing and is part of the development by Bennett Homes east of Cromer Road. The works will also incorporate additional road surfacing works.
There will be pedestrian and cycle safety improvements which include the construction of a crossing point, realignment of the existing pedestrian and cycle path, construction of a small section of pedestrian and cycle path which will tie into the developer’s works.
There will also be street lighting amendments and an extension to the 30mph limit and carriageway resurfacing. The final step will be routine maintenance of the road surface south along Cromer Road.
The work will cost £104,313 for the pedestrian crossing improvements and around £150,000 for the carriageway resurfacing works which will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.
