RNLI Hovercraft Volunteer Crew Rescue Stranded Walker on Scolthead Island

At dusk on Friday UK Coastguard requested the launch of the Hunstanton RNLI Hovercraft in response to reports of a person cut off by the tide on Scolthead Island at Brancaster.

Hunstanton RNLI Hovercraft launched on service and on arrival at Brancaster located a lady and her dog cut off by the rising tide. She told the crew that she had not realised the state of the tide which had filled the channel between her and the safety of the beach, and that she had been walking round trying to find a way off the island for a couple of hours before she rang the coastguard. The lady and her dog were taken on board the hovercraft and transferred to the beach into the care of the local coastguard response team.
