After three years of planning and hard work, The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House has opened Ray’s Place, a dedicated space for their day therapy patients.
At the official opening, the ribbon was cut at Ray’s Place by its namesake, Ray Daniels, on Friday 10th September 2021.
The project was made possible due to a generous donation from Ray, who was keen to support the Hillington-based charity.
The project to build Ray’s Place began in late 2018 when plans were drawn up to build the cabin as an extra space for the Therapy team to provide creative activities and workshops, such as their Living Life Creatively and Men’s Woodwork groups.
Ray’s Place sits within the Hospice’s garden and has a seating area, equipment and tools, crafting materials and a kitchen.
Nichola Child, Therapy Team Lead and Specialist Palliative Care Occupational Therapist, said:
“Ray’s Place is the fruition of a dream to have a dedicated space for day therapy patients where we could offer woodwork and other creative groups. Eighteen months ago we finally completed the cabin and were due to move in before everything closed due to the pandemic.
“It is such a delight to now be using the space to support our patients through their palliative journey and we look forward to being able to continue to develop it. We are so grateful to Ray Daniels for his generosity in enabling this to open and for his support and wisdom throughout the development stages.”
