QEH Campaigners to lobby former PM at her constituency office

This Saturday campaigners in high-viz vests and hard hats will go to Swaffham.

The campaign for a new Hospital to replace the QEH where over 3000 props are supporting the crumbling building started in April 2021 and nineteen months later the funding decision for the new hospital programme has still not been made despite numerous promises of an announcement from the Government.

Trades Council Secretary and Independent Borough Councillor for the ward that the hospital sits in, Jo Rust, who  this time last year presented James Wild MP with hundreds of letters and a Santa scroll asking to be on the shortlist said: "This year we’re being told that the decision will be made “later in the year”, but as we head into December, there’s not much left of the year to go.

"We shouldn’t still be waiting to hear if our hospital will be on the list for funding for a new build. There should have been a strategy to replace hospitals which have come to the end of their shelf life, but they failed to plan for it despite being in power for 12 years. Shame on them”.

The campaigners plan to ask Liz Truss to use some of her new found free time to put pressure on Steve Barclay and Helen Whately to announce the funding decision.

More safety props are planned to be installed at the QEH to support the operating theatres over the coming months.
