Gingerella the Pantomime delights audience.

"Pantomimes should be full of fun and help pass the dark winter months on the way to spring and sunshine," says Gingerella Director Peter Everingham, and this pantomime more than lived up to expectations.

The Gingerella script by Sharon Yates is terrific, full of surprises and cultural references from Shakespeare to the Beatles. The jokes are funny, and on the first night (Thursday 16th January) the audience needed very little encouragement to participate in the Cinderella story that has not only been updated but has a twist in the tale.

Music is important in a pantomime too and the clever choice of songs only added to the story.

Without giving too much away, for you really should go and see Gingerella for yourselves, Gary Pearce's performance as King Norbert has the audience in stitches and his impersonation skills a joy to behold. Ann Smith's accent as Mel-Ting is hilarious and the Witches' scenes provide more than a nod to the sixteenth century. Becca Whybrow plays the sweet (Ginger) Ella  and look out for Maria Corleone played by Rachel Fletcher - and her introductory fanfare!

Josh Chilvers plays the picky Prince to perfection and Ryan Chivers as Zips is brilliant, in fact all the cast made this a pantomime perfect for all the family.

If I had to pick out one performer that I think is destined for greater things it would be Lauren Matthews as Sioux - but you'll have to get a ticket to see exactly why!

Call Janice on 01485 570402 or Jim on 01485 571267 for tickets that are £10 each. Remaining performances are tonight, Friday 17th at 7.30 and Saturday 18th at 2pm and 7.30pm.
