Dog show at Old Hunstanton village hall on final day of Flower Festival
"They're all winners," says Amanda Knight from The Barking Bugle, who's judging the competition, "We wish we could give a prize to you all. The best prize though is you get to take these gorgeous doggies home." It's true of course, but it doesn't stop the feelings of competitiveness. Waffle's owner tells me they've been the last few years and are yet to win a rosette, "We are more determined than ever, not sure we can take any more rejection!"
I spot a few dogs we normally see on the beach, but no beach fur today, they are dog show ready.

The first categories are prettiest girl and most handsome boy.

Most handsome is won by Rufus, owner Amy says, "We love winning at the dog shows."

My one year old takes a shine to Gracie, who's simply adorable. She's one of the winners for the dog 'the judge would like to take home' (my daughter clearly agrees).

Charlie who came third in 'Most Appealing Eyes'
We enter my mum's dog is in 3 categories (determined to get a prize) and Freddie finally takes fifth place for waggiest tail (robbed of first place in my opinion!)

Freddie (far right) takes fifth place
And I'm happy to say Waffle's years of rejection are finally over, winning his rosette in the 'would like to take home' category.

After lots of barks, sniffs and biscuits the shows ends to applause.
Church warden Steve Rimmer saying, "Thanks to the dogs for behaving, and their owners for semi behaving!"
As we leave I see Rufus' owner Amy walking around proudly wearing his rosette, "Only because he doesn't want to wear it," she says, I'm not sure I believe her. If Freddie had come first though, I might be wearing his. We better get practicing for next year.
