Old photo prompts questions for Hunstanton care home
Nightingale Lodge construction circa 1905

An old photograph of Nightingale Lodge in Hunstanton has prompted lots of questions.

The photo was handed to the home on Austin Street by a local Hunstanton resident in an ornate wooden frame. It depicts the home being built around 1905 with construction workers posing outside the home.

Most of the workmen are wearing flat caps and there seems to be no sign of safety helmets or work boots.

Staff and residents at the home have been studying the photograph and are fascinated to know more about the construction and history of the building which was purchased as a care home by Black Swan Care Group in 1994.

The home now supports up to 29 people, including people living with a dementia, and is rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.

If the local community can provide any more information, they can add comments on the home’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/NightingaleLodgeCareHome
