News about Town and Around magazine distribution

Some of you will have already seen the April issue of Town and Around on our website: townandaround.net

The magazine was sent to print before the major announcements about the restrictions that affect us all.

We are expecting our regular delivery of magazines from the printers on Thursday (27th March). However, following last night’s announcement by the Prime Minister, Richard and I have decided that for our delivery volunteer’s safety, there should be no door to door deliveries of Town and Around at this time.

We will be delivering bulk quantities of Magazines to those outlets that are legally allowed to be open and who have agreed to help us get the local magazine to you in these difficult times.

The Government has issued a list of shops that can remain open and we are endeavouring to put supplies in as many as possible.

  • Supermarkets and other food shops
  • Health shops
  • Pharmacies including non-dispensing pharmacies
  • Petrol stations
  • Bicycle shops
  • Home and hardware shops
  • Laundrettes and dry cleaners
  • Bicycle shops
  • Garages
  • Car rentals
  • Pet shops
  • Corner shops
  • Newsagents
  • Post offices
  • Banks

During these troubled times we are doing our best to support our community by continuing with the magazine that we have been publishing since 2005.

We would like to thank our volunteers that have been obliged to stand down, some of whom have delivered continuously since the magazine started, many of them well over 70. Thanks also to all the shops that are helping us with this crisis.

Our advertisers are our life blood and many have been forced to close at the moment; when this is all over, please support them if you can.

Thank you, we hope that things will return to normal in due course.
