More household hazardous waste days at Norfolk’s recycling centres

HHWDs are the only times the centres accept hazardous materials

Almost 300 thousand kilograms of hazardous materials were disposed of by Norfolk County Council in the spring, when it opened 7 of its recycling centres to households. And this autumn it will do the same.

“It’s great to see the return of Household Hazardous Waste Days (HHWDs) at Norfolk’s Recycling Centres,” says councillor James Bensly, cabinet member for environment and waste. “These are free events put on by Norfolk County Council, which give residents right across the county the opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous waste items such as flammable liquids or pesticides. I encourage anyone with these items to book a free slot.”

HHWDs are the only times that Norfolk's recycling centres accept hazardous materials, including paint. There were almost 7 thousand bookings in the spring.

You can book for the autumn online or by phone a week before each event, which are as follows:

  • Norwich South – Friday 3 & Saturday 4 October
  • King’s Lynn – Friday 10 & Saturday 11 October
  • Caister – Friday 24 & Saturday 25 October
  • Dereham – Friday 31 October & Saturday 1 November
  • Thetford – Friday 7 & Saturday 8 November
  • Hempton – Friday 21 & Saturday 22 November
  • Norwich North – Friday 28 & Saturday 29 November
