A darts marathon raised £700 for the Hospice

Over twenty players took part in a sponsored Darts Marathon in aid of the Norfolk Hospice at Hunstanton’s Conservative Club and in early October a cheque for £700 was presented to Lindsey Atkin from the Hospice.

Lindsey spoke about the work of the Hospice and explained that their funding was made up of one third from the government and the remainder canme from fundraising. “It’s wonderful groups like you who enable us to do what we do every day, and we couldn’t do it without you.”

The darts marathon was held from 2pm-10pm on 21st September and the event was organised by Sal Valderas and Valerie Jubb.

During the marathon Pat Cox won the most games. “I knocked the men out!” she said, “years ago I was captain of a ladies team in Kettering.”

Following the event club committee member Bill Cunliffe suggested the compilation of a commemorative folder that includes the following statement: “Hunstanton Conservative Club is proud of its record of support for local worthwhile charities and therefore it should be placed on record our thanks to Sal and Val for all their efforts in making this event so enjoyable and successful.”
