Hunstanton's new bookshop - 'by the book'
Co-founder Adrian Eden in the new shop

A new bookshop will open it's doors in Hunstanton tomorrow - Wednesday 17th August

Have you seen the new shop on the High Street in Hunstanton? Adrian Eden and Anna Pugh are the co-founders of this new project – a bookshop called ‘by the book’ that will open to the public tomorrow.

Both Adrian and Anna have long dreamed of a bookshop of their own, and when the opportunity arose to take over the shop in the High Street, they jumped at the chance to bring their passion and knowledge of books to Hunstanton.

The shop is filled with a carefully selected collection of quality preloved and new books, highlighting local authors and publishing houses.

By the book 1

The bookshelves are stocked with modern classics to vintage fiction, transport and travel to gardening, nature and birdwatching, and includes local walking maps and cycling guides.

The Booktent is an ideal place for younger children to discover books and can help parents with learning ideas, and there is a wide selection of titles for older children and younger adults to encourage and inspire a love of reading and imagination

The shop has a bookfinding service, so if there’s a book you’ve been looking for, or always wanted to read, or if you have volume 3 and 4 of your favourite series, but are missing volume 1, it’s worth asking them to search it out for you.

As well as books, the shop offers a range of beautiful cards from the Natural History Museum and National Gallery, papercraft gifts and bookmarks, and will feature cards produced by local nature photographers.

So, what will the future hold? The Bookshop are planning to run a series of book readings later in the year, and are developing a focus on books about the local history of Hunstanton and West Norfolk

by the book is open Wednesday to Saturday 9.30am – 5.00pm, and on Sundays from 10am – 4.00pm.
