Hunstanton's Christmas Day swim is cancelled

Hunstanton's Christmas Day swim is cancelled

The popular event has been cancelled because of the risk of Covid infection among key event staff and the public.

An announcement was made by the organisers of the event, Hunstanton and District Round Table, this morning (21st December) that said:

"It is with sadness in our hearts, that us guys at Hunstanton and District Round Table 615 regret to inform you that our Christmas Day Swim on Hunstanton Promenade this Saturday 25th December has been cancelled.

"We have made this difficult decision to cancel because of the risk of Covid infection among key event staff and the public.

"Due to the inability to safely distance with the unprecedented numbers of participants and expected supporters.

"This year's high tide will also reduce the space to safely distance and we feel that it would be unwise to continue.

"For those participants who have already collected sponsorship please hold onto it. Our Swim Event Committee are pushing on to move the fun to Easter.

"We thank you for all of your support and wish you to understand that this was not an easy decision to make.

"Merry Christmas from HRT615."
