Norfolk NGS is pleased to announce that Sir Nicholas Bacon, RHS President and owner of the Raveningham Hall will be conducting a guided snowdrop walk around his parkland home.
The guided walk and talk to see the snowdrops is on Tuesday 18th February and expected to last approximately 1 hour. Visitors should arrive by 2pm. Cost of the tour is £20.00 which also includes tea and cake. Gravel paths enable wheelchair access and dogs on leads are welcome.
Raveningham Gardens and park are protected by shelter belts of woodland that offer protection to the borders, meadows and lawns. One of the main specialties of the garden is the many drifts of different varieties of snowdrops that are on display throughout the woodland.
The gardens are based on Edwardian plans, with planting enhanced by Priscilla, Lady Bacon in the 1960’s. A Millennium project by Nicholas Bacon established a lake on the North side of the house, and an Arboretum was planted after the destruction of a wood in the 1987 gales. This project presented an opportunity to plant a large variety of trees and shrubs under a plan designed by Roy Lancaster. The latest project is a new Stumpery showcasing tree ferns. Sculptures by Susan Bacon are placed around the garden, surrounded by an 18th century park with many trees of a great age.
This is a limited ticket event, and tickets are available through the NGS events page. https://ngs.org.uk/ngs_event/raveningham-hall-snowdrop-walk-and-talk/
