Heacham Manor Golf Club retained the local Ryder Cup bragging rights with a 13-9 victory at Searles GC on Saturday.

Finding themselves 7-4 down at the half way mark, Searles left themselves too much to do. Heacham Manor captain, Denny Turner, said, “a good all round team performance. Recognition should also go to the ground staff as the course played magnificently. We look forward to welcoming our friendly foes to our course next year”.

Heacham FC launched themselves out of the relegation zone in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division with a terrific 4-2 victory over Stowmarket Town on Saturday. Goals from Toby Hilliard (2), Joe Jackson and Jack Prentice securing a much needed and deserved win.

Manager, Paul Hunt, was delighted with the victory, saying, “we are moving in the right direction. We have an important cup match tonight, it is a competition we want to go far in, then we have some tough league matches in October, but we will take each match one game at a time”.

Heacham face a pivotal couple of weeks, as they play fellow teams in the bottom half of the table (Long Melford, Lakenheath and Soham Town Rangers). The Magpies are in cup action tonight (Tuesday) as they welcome Easton FC in a mouth watering Norfolk Senior Cup tie (7.45pm Kick off). Whilst the visitors sit two divisions below their hosts in the football league pyramid system, they should not be taken lightly with an unbeaten start to the season and presently sitting joint top of the Anglian Combination League Premier Division.

In the same cup competition, Dersingham Rovers lost 2-0 at home to higher level Yelverton FC.

In Division Three of the Anglian Combination League, Ingoldisthorpe FC will feel aggrieved they came away with nothing in a 4-3 loss at high flying AFC Lynn. Chairman Eddie Herbert said, “we were unlucky not to come away with at least a draw. Despite the loss things are slowly starting to click into place”.

In Division Four Heacham Reserves thumped Watton United Reserves 6-2 with goals from Alfred Buhlemann (2), Thomas Hawkins, Tyler Marsh, Jaden Poore and George Rawlings. Dersingham Rovers Reserves gained a creditable 1-1 draw at Madra FC, Joshua Seal netting for the local side who remain in 5th place.

In Division One of the North West Norfolk League, Ingoldisthorpe Reserves slipped to the bottom of the table after a 1-0 home loss to Marshland Saints Reserves who had started the day bottom. Dersingam Rovers ‘A’ are up to 5th with a 3-2 win at Clenchwarton. Sonny Devlin (2) and Lewis Batterbee scoring.

Heacham Minors Development FC rounded off a great weekend for the club with a convincing 4-0 win at Colkirk FC in the Norfolk Primary Cup.
