Glebe House School begins building renovation work for their younger pupils.

Glebe House School in Hunstanton have started their renovation of the Pre-Prep building this summer to create a vibrant and exciting space for the younger children at the school.

Through the academic year 2020/2021 we all know the challenges that schools and parents faced with the difficulties brought by home-schooling and online learning. As the children returned to full time schooling, it became clear at Glebe House School that more space was going to be needed for the youngest school aged children.

The younger age groups at Glebe House School have a maximum class size for Reception of 18 pupils, with Year 1 and 2 of 20 in each class. From September 2021, those classes will be full and the school wanted to do something long lasting to support those children’s education.

Rated ‘excellent and outstanding’ in all areas in their 2018 inspection, Glebe has a record number of pupils on role from September. The area for the youngest pupils is to be renovated to create more space, more learning opportunities and better facilities for this vital part of their education. 

"We are excited to be making bigger and better classrooms for the younger children" said Louis Taylor, Headmaster at Glebe since 2018. “There will be more space for each class, better equipment and more opportunities for interaction between the classes, once our Covid restrictions are gone and we are allowed to mix again."

The Headmaster couldn’t resist getting involved; striking the first hit into a wall that is coming down between two classrooms to make one of the bigger learning areas.

‘It was fun to get stuck in, but I will definitely be sticking to the day job!” Mr Taylor remarked.

Glebe House School is an Independent Prep School in Hunstanton. With means tested bursaries and a bus route that goes through the local area, it is a great option for parents who are ambitious for their children – with a nurturing, family atmosphere and wonderful facilities and grounds – now being added to by the new Pre-Prep renovations.
