Football Update - W/E 9th & 10th November

News from the Heacham FC, Dersingham Rovers, Ingoldisthorpe and FC St Edmund's Hunstanton matches.

Heacham FC turned in one of their best performances of the season in front of over 160 spectators on Saturday, holding league leaders Ely City to a goalless draw. In fact The Magpies were the better side and were unlucky not to take all three points. There was a fluency to Heacham's play and Ely had to resort to theatrics and histrionics to contain them. Fortunately, referee, Jaden Lister, was having none of it, booking three of their players. Youngster Colby Wood deservedly picked up the man of the match award, posing a threat to the visitor's defence throughout. Heacham nearly snatched victory at the end hitting the post. The well earned point has taken Heacham up to 13th in the table.

Manager, Paul Hunt, said, “I thought we played well and had the better chances. I was proud of how hard the lads worked and how well they stuck to the plan we had. I thought they contributed to the good performance and created some chances to win the game. It was great to see Alfred (Buhlemann) make his debut after playing well for the reserves and U18s”.

Heacham FC U18’s are back in action tonight (Tuesday) as they welcome second placed Wroxham U18’s (7.45pm Kick off). The sides are only divided by goal difference. Heacham will be looking to bounce back from last week’s loss to Dereham, in a game they trailed 5-0, recovered it to 5-4, and amazingly missed a couple of late chances to level it.

In Division One of the Anglian Combination League, Dersingham Rovers slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Holt United, who travel to Ingoldisthorpe in the County Cup in two weeks time. Scott Sutherland-Gray scored for Dersingham.

In Division Three, Ingoldisthorpe lost 6-3 to Norwich based side UEA Reserves. The ‘Thorpe will always pose a threat up front with Dylan Ess and new signing Oscar Thompson and actually took the lead, but sloppy defending enabled UEA to take control of the match. Dylan Ess (2) and Zac Rush scored for Ingoldisthorpe.

In Division Four, Heacham Reserves took all three points in a 3-2 derby success at Dersingham Reserves with a Thomas Hawkins hat-trick. Sam Pishorn also saved a penalty for the visitors. Conor McQuaid and Jack Rix replied for the home side.

In Division One of the North West Norfolk League, Dersingham Rovers ‘A’ remain top after a resounding 5-0 win at Marshland Saints Reserves. Chris Freeman, Dane Hipkin, Harry Nash, Lewis Batterbee and Chay Sharpin with the goals.

In Division Two, FC St. Edmunds Hunstanton notched their first win of the season with a 4-0 home defeat of Gayton Reserves. A brace apiece for Colby Aulker and Aaron Sibbons enough to seal all three points. Delighted manager, Nigel King, said, “it was coming, deserved the win and we did it in style too. Hopefully, this will now kick-start our season”. The local club have bolstered their squad with the signing of veteran, Tim Keogh. A comment that “it will all end in tears” has been dismissed by the player’s agent as utter balderdash.
