Festive Merchants Market

Festive Merchants Market

Handmade crafts, baked sweet treats & savoury goodies, artisan cheese and drink, and much more!

As we enter the tent in Tuesday Market Place, the first thing I notice are some incredible looking baked treats.

And Sara Fisk, who owns Miam Miam Bakes, is definitely in the festive spirit - with decorations adorning her hair and Christmas pudding earrings.

I tell her she clearly loves this time of year, "I do yes! It's definitely my season, to make all the Christmassy bakes as well, I love it. And this event is always fantastic, the footfall is always amazing, lots of people come out to support it."

I'm on the hunt for a tree decoration and come across the perfect stall - the Family Knitting Circle, made up of 3 generations of knitters.

Kelly says it all began as a hobby, until they decided to sell their creations 4 years ago, "And this is our second year we've done this market - it gets quite busy, it's a really fun event to do."

I settle on a knitted Santa.

There are few Christmas jumpers dotted around, one being worn by Claire Harper, who along with her husband Jason, runs Lynn Brewery.

Claire says this market's 'absolutely fabulous', adding, "It's heaving isn't it, it's so nice because we're meeting lots of new customers as well. And I do think the decorations look rather lovely."

And it is heaving, with so many handmade crafts, drinks, baked goods and plenty of unique gifts on offer - it's hardly surprising.

Jess Levett, from Floral Lifestyle, says,  "It's a feel good event, everyone's always happy - it's just nice and Christmassy. There are a good variety of crafts as well."

I didn't think it could get more festive - but then a band starts playing some Christmas songs.

And as I hum along (I'm not the only one!) I'm off to explore some more, to buy a Miam Miam bake and then head home to put my new knitted Santa on the tree.

The Festive Merchants Market continues tomorrow (7th December), from 10 til 4.
