Eight passengers rescued by hovercraft after the Baden Powell runs aground

The Hunstanton hovercraft was called to the lower end of the Wash on Saturday to rescue the pleasure boat's passengers.

The Baden Powell had run hard aground near West Stones Bouy at the lower end of the Wash, in the channel leading into the Great Ouse with the eight passengers and three crew aboard.

Four men and four women were taken on board the hovercraft, four at a time, and taken to the pontoon staging at Kings Lynn into the care of the coastguard response team. The crew stayed on board intending to float off on the rising tide.
