SNETTISHAM PUB LANDLORDS SCOOP TOP SPOT IN THE UK

Jeannette and Anthony Goodrich, landlady and landlord of The Rose & Crown, Snettisham are named Licensees of the Year 2021 by The Good Pub Guide. As well as this incredible accolade, their pub, The Rose & Crown in Snettisham has also been named Norfolk Dining Pub of the Year 2021.

The new edition of The Good Pub Guide 2021 has named Jeannette and Anthony Goodrich, licensees of the Year. The Editors of the Guide praised their continuing enthusiasm, innovative thinking and care and appreciation of its local customers.

Despite a rollercoaster of a year, and a seemingly endless succession of new rules and openings and closings, Jeannette and Anthony have managed to remain positive.

Says Anthony “We had a cracking summer once we had reopened on 4th July, with a real feeling of how much people enjoy being out and in the company of others, even if not sitting at the same table.

The second, November, lockdown came as a disappointment, as was Norfolk being categorised as Tier 2 for our reopening on 2nd December. However the outlook is encouraging with lots of bookings coming through, for both dining and accommodation, and we hope that 2021 will see a real bounce back for ourselves and all the other pubs that have been through such a difficult time.”

Covered in roses and looking on to the cricket pitch, (whose cricket team it sponsors), The Rose & Crown is a quintessentially English village inn with a staunch group of regular local customers, as well as many regular customers from further afield, who come for the welcoming, convivial ambiance, outstanding food, excellent beers and friendly staff, and all of whom contribute to The Rose & Crown’s inimitable character.

Says Jeannette of the latest re-opening “We are going full tilt into the Christmas season with the lights and decorations sparkling, the fires burning, candles lit, mulled wine on tap and home made Christmas puddings and mince pies on sale in Dave’s Bakery. This is the year of small but extra special celebrations, and we will shortly be serving Christmas meals for both diners and takeaways.”

The Rose & Crown has also been named Norfolk Dining Pub of the Year 2021 by The Good Pub Guide, the second year running that it has held this award. Says Anthony “We greatly value our staff, both in the kitchen and front of house, who take such a pride in the business, and create the very special atmosphere for which The Rose & Crown has become so well known. We are delighted for them - they are a key element in winning this award, and it is a great endorsement of their dedication and hard work”.
