Hunstanton’s inaugural parkrun was a runaway success with 220 runners gathering at Hunstanton Sailing Club on Saturday 5th October.
A sense of community and camaraderie permeated the crisp morning air as the runners made their way from the Sailing Club, around the Heritage Gardens, along the clifftops and to the Lighthouse and back before returning to the Sailing Club for a total distance of 5km.
The first male record holder for Hunstanton was Josh O'Neil who recorded a time of 19:08 and the first female record holder was Marie French who recorded a time of 19:16.
Run Director Mike Shaw said: “The Hunstanton Promenade parkrun core team were surprised yet very pleased with the turnout of 220 parkrunners on Saturday morning.”
“Feedback was very positive, and it was great to see both experienced and new runners and walkers of all abilities taking part.”
“We are very grateful to our group of volunteers who without their help the parkrun would not take place. To volunteer, whether regularly or from time to time at the parkrun, you can sign up by looking at our website and emailing us at hunstantonpromenadehelpers@parkrun.com.”
“We are very grateful to our local sponsors Active Norfolk, Hunstanton Heritage Gardens, Hunstanton Rotary Club and Hunstanton and District Roundtable for their kind donations.”
“The core team look forward to the weekly event going from strength to strength and will regularly update its website and Facebook page once this has been launched.”
Parkrun UK organise free, weekly 5km timed runs all around the world. They are open to people of every ability. Previously, the closest parkruns were at Holkham Hall and King’s Lynn.
Hunstanton parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9:00am on Hunstanton North Promenade. Course details and information on registering is available on https://www.parkrun.org.uk/hun....
